Mass teachers’ resignation: Lecturers of Mountain View Christian College on January 6 tendered mass resignation to the college authority as an act of resentment for the ongoing crisis within the college. This was informed in a press release issued by president, Mountain View Christian College Teachers’ Union.
Kuhuboto Ghakhu Students’ Union: Kuhuboto Ghakhu Students’ Union (KGSU) has informed all former executives and newly elected office bearers that handing and taking over service would held on January 8, 10am at the residence of its banker at Kuhuboto. All former executives and newly elected office bearers have been requested to attend the service.
NPF Zunheboto division informs: Nagaland Peoples’ Front (NPF) Zunheboto division has informed that NPF delegation of central team would be visiting NPF Zunheboto divisional unit office on January 13 at 10am. All divisional office bearers, women wing, youth wing, president and general secretaries of respective areas with president frontal wings area units, executives, CEC NPF members have been requested to attend the meeting.
Ashaa village general meeting: Ashaa village council (AVC) has convened a general public meeting on January 12, 10am at the Church compound. All Ashaa villagers residing in different districts, VDB members and women wing have been requested to attend the meeting.
Rotomi Welfare Dimapur Area informs: Rotomi Welfare Dimapur Area (RWDA) has informed all members that there would be a fasting prayer on January 8, 7am at the residence of Dr. Maj. Mughavi Sema, Mishikito village.
Yankhum village general meeting: Yankhum village has convened a general meeting on January 19, 8am at Yankhum village to discuss important issues relating to the village.
HASSU handing and taking over program: Highway Area Sumi Students’ Union (HASSU) has informed that handing and taking over programme for outgoing and newly elected office bearers would held on January 8, 10am at HASSU office (WSH building). All outgoing and newly elected office bearers have been requested to attend the programme.

Kandi Ni Union emergency general meeting: Kandi Ni Union Dimapur has convened an emergency general meeting on January 10, 1pm at the residence of Pfiilitha Kath (cultural and statistical secy.) Padumpukhuri.
DSSU executive meeting: Dimapur Sumi Students’ Union (DSSU) has convened an executive meeting on January 8, 10:30am at the residence of the union banker, Notun basti.
NNC (Non-Accordist) Sumi region general meeting: NNC (Non-Accordist) Sumi region has convened a general meeting on January 8 at 10am. All national workers of NNC (Non-Accordist) Sumi region of all ranks have been requested to attend the meeting.
LBA children festival: The 4-day 3rd Children Festival of the Liangmai Baptist Association (LBA) started on January 6 at Tening Village Baptist Church under the banner “Abide in Jesus”. The festival is being sponsored by Henry, sub- divisional agriculture officer, Tening and hosted by Baptist Church Tening Village. In the event, children from different Churches would compete in various activities including choir, choreography, solo, Bible reading and painting. In the competition the first, second and third position will be rewarded. More than seven hundred children are expected to participate in the festival.
Tuensang District Veteran Sports Club: Tuensang District Veteran Sports Club (TDVSC) has convened a meeting on January 9 at 1pm at the residence of T. Apong Chang (retd STO) treasurer TDVSC.
TGSU, Tseminyu conference: Tesophenyu Group Students Union (TGSU), Tseminyu held its general meeting on January 4 at the conference hall of Rengma Students Union Office. The union also elected a new team of office bearers for the tenure of 2011-12 headed by Gwashalo Magh as president, Newale Seb as vice president and C. Anthony Magh, secretary general and David Magh as joint secretary.
KSU platinum jubilee members’ picnic: Various committee members of Kyong Students’ Union (KSU) platinum jubilee have been informed that there would be a summing up meeting cum picnic on January 8 at Doyang Dam site. Members have been requested to gather at the police point, Wokha latest by 8am.
EDSSU election: Election of East Dimapur Sumi Students’ Union (EDSSU) for the tenure 2011-12 would be held on January 10, 10am at the residence its banker, Akheto Yepthomi, Middle Colony, Purana Bazar. The nomination form would be available on January 10, 9 am onwards. All interested candidates have been informed to contact the president at 9862105963. Meanwhile, EDSSU has felicitated Alino Awomi for being crowned the first ever Miss Highway Area Sumi Students’ Union 2011.
New Peren golden jubilee: New Peren Baptist Church would be celebrating its 50th anniversary from January 14 to 16. The speakers for the jubilee include Rev. Kuzierang Thou, executive secretary, ZBCC and Rev. Suitei, former executive secretary, ZBCC.
HVSU meeting: A general meeting of the Humtso Village Students’ Union (HVSU) would be held on January 8 at LTC Hall Wokha at 10 am with “Nchumchoa, Methaka Osi Khochia” as the theme of the day.
SVSU new office bearers: Shoixe Village Students’ Union (SVSU) elected a new team of office bearers for the session 2011-2012 headed by Kitoho Chishi as president, Kiholi as vice president, Vikiho as general secretary along with 17 (seventeen) executive members.
ANEFWA informs zonal presidents: All Nagaland Electricity Field Workers Association (ANEFWA) has notified zonal presidents to report to the ANEFWA head office at Kohima with progress report, collection of arrears of revenue of power department on January 11 to discuss future course of action on the basis of report and data.
YSUTT general meeting: The 33rd general meeting of Yimchungru Students Union Tuensang Town (YSUTT) has been convened on January 8, 8.30am at GHS Thangjam Campus. YSUTT has informed all Yimchungru students above class 10, Yimchungru public leaders, GB’s DB’s, YUTT, YMA and Yimchungru elders to attend the meeting. The union also informed Yimchungru college students under Tuensang town to compulsorily register their names compulsory to the office of YSUTT for the forth coming Yimchungru Akheru Arih-Ako general conference scheduled from January 11 to 14 at Chessore village.
Transformer installed in Kheshai village: In yet another developmental activity under DAN government, Kheshai village under Tuensang district received a transformer on December 20. The transformer and power line was inaugurated by Kejong Chang MLA, Advisor VG’s, DB’s, GB’s Nagaland. Y.L. Jami IAS, deputy commissioner, Tuensang, district planning officer and power department Tuensang were also present. Meanwhile, the village council has expressed gratitude to chief minister Neiphiu Rio, Kejong Chang, MLA, Advisor VG’s, DBs, GBs Nagaland, deputy commissioner Tuensang and staff of power department Tuensang for their due concern in installing the transformer before Christmas.
Draft electoral rolls in Kma
DIMAPUR: Deputy Commissioner, Kohima has notified that list of amendments to the draft rolls for the 8-Western Angami A/C, 9-Kohima Town A/C, 10-Northern Angami– I A/C, 11-orthern Angami–II A/C, 12-Tseminyu A/C, 14 –Southern Angami–I A/C and 15-Northern Angami– II A/C have been published with reference to January 1, 2011 as the qualifying date and in accordance with the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960. A copy of the said rolls together with the said list of information have been published and would be available for inspection at the Office of the deputy commissioner, Kohima, stated an official bulletin.
UKK golden jubilee
Dimapur: Usutomi Kiphimi Kuqhakulu (UKK) celebrated its golden jubilee on December 28-30 at Usutomi village under the theme ‘vision towards excellence’ with Doshehe Y Sema, Power & Election Minister, Nagaland and Joseph Hesso, Commandant 4th NAP, Thizama as chief guest and guest of honour respectively. Dr. Hokishe Kiho, Dy. CMO, Zunheboto and Botoholi K Achumi, chaplain, Mount Olive college Kohima were the main speakers while Kahuli P Achumi, social leader and Ghukali P Hesso, staff nurse were the resource persons during the women seminar. Dr. Khevito Hesso, Dr. Hutoka Hesso and Dr. Vininolo H Hesso conducted the medical camp during the jubilee. The planning board member has expressed gratitude to all for making the jubilee celebration a grand success.
DIS Aghunato notifies adhoc employees
DIMAPUR: As per the directive from the additional director (HOD) school education Nagaland, Kohima dated December 22, 2010, DIS Aghunato has informed all adhoc employees under deputy inspector of schools Aghunato who have served for 3(three) years or more of continuous service as on November 30, 2010 to submit particulars at DIS office. The particulars include original and photo copy of first appointment order and latest extension order, all educational mark sheets and certificates (HSLC onwards) in original along with one photo copy and 3 (three) latest passport size photographs to the DIS office before January 20.
2 injured in road mishap
Staff Reporter DIMAPUR, JAN 6 (NPN): Two persons - one bike rider and the other, a pedestrian, were injured the pedestrian who was crosing the road was hit by a bike (NL 07 E- 4198) near 4th mile Dimapur Thursday at around 8pm. Both the injured were taken to Christian Institute of Health Sciences & Research (CIHSR). The bike rider was a non-local while the pedestrian was a local. Further details were not available till the time of filing this report.
FGN observes ‘Raising Day’
DIMAPUR: The “6th brigade, Naga Army” of “Federal government of Nagaland” January 3 observed its “47th Naga Army Raising Day” at Dimapur. According to a statement issued by “6th brigade, Naga army commanding officer major” A.K. Yepthomi, the occasion was graced by its “deputy kilonser lota/agri” Hekhuvi Achumi as chief guest. The function was also attended by “various signatories from different region”, it stated.
CVC appeals
TUENSANG: Chessore Village Students Union would be celebrating its 50th jubilee from January 11 to 14. In this regard, Chessore Village Council (CVC) has appealed all heads of department, institution, school to grant leave to students for the celebration.
