The Tamil Nadu Assembly Friday witnessed uproarious scenes with members of the opposition parties being evicted from the House when they disrupted the Governor’s customary address.
The first session of the year 2011 of Tamil Nadu’s 13th Assembly began at the new legislative building with Governor Surjit Singh Barnala slated to address the House.
But as soon as Barnala got up to begin his address, the opposition members wearing black shirts as a mark of protest also stood up and started shouting slogans against the ruling DMK government.
O Panneerselvam, the deputy leader of the AIADMK in the House, stood up and began reading a statement criticising the government. This was followed by another round of slogan shouting.
The members also walked up to the well of the House.
Speaker R Avudaiyappan summoned the marshals and ordered eviction of the opposition members belonging to AIADMK, MDMK, CPI-M and CPI.
