Cabinet sub-committee to visit Changpang today

A high level state Cabinet Sub-Committee on Exploration and Mining of Petroleum and Natural Gas headed by the convenor T.R.Zeliang, minister of Planning & Coordination ,Veterinary & Animal Husbandry will visit Changpang under Wokha district on January 8 to undertake on-the-spot study of the matter.
The other team members include: Imkong L. Imchen (minister home), M.C.Konyak (minister forest), Doshehe Y.Sema (minister power), Y.Patton (parl.secretary (geology & mining), Dako Phom(parl.secretary transport), Vhiko-o Yhoshu(advisor IIT), Tokheho Yepthomi (opposition leader), Apok Jamir(MLA), and H.K.Khulu IAS (principal secretary) and member-secretary of the committee.
Besides the above members, others who will also accompany the team include: Sentiyanger Imchen IAS (comm. & secy. (geology & mining), Kiviho Chishi (director geology & mining) and Arhomo Lotha (jt. director geology & mining).
It may be noted, that oil spillage from oil wells abandoned by the ONGC in 1994 have been a cause of environmental concern. The ONGC had requested the state government for permission to repair and re-cap the damaged valves and to provide security for its engineers.
