Dmu police issue directives

In the interest of public safety and control of crime especially related to motor vehicle theft the following directives are laid down for all concerned parties for strict compliance.
1. All motor vehicle garage/service centers in Dimapur districts are to maintain a log book/register. This log book/register shall contain data of vehicle produced or kept in the garage for repair and replacement. The data must registration number, chassis number, engine number, make, model, type, colour and details of the owner producing vehicle for repair and replacement.
2. The log book/register must be produced to the concerned police station under whose jurisdiction the garage/service centers falls on a daily basis and must obtain endorsement of the duty officer.
3. Replacement of chassis, engine or other major modification leading to drastic change in the outlook of the vehicle should be carried out only on production of valid papers/documents from the concerned authorities.
4. Garage/service centers are directed that change of colour/paint of vehicles shall not be carried out unless approval of the same is given by the concerned district transport officials. Change of colour of vehicle must be reflected in the registration certificate.
5. Outlets making registration plates are directed that job for making registration plate must not be taken unless the costumers produce a valid registration certificate for which vehicle the registration plate is required.
6. Vehicle owners/customers producing vehicle for repairing/modification to any garage/workshop and which is suspected to be stolen or required by the police must be reported to the nearest police station for verification at the earliest.
