Two days training on “Horticulture Farming” for selected “Horticulture Farm Students” was conducted by ATMA Mangkolemba Block on December 9 and 10 at ATMA Farm School, Tsurangkulem. The convener of ATMA Mangkolemba block and deputy director, Veterinary & A.H Mangkolemba, Dr. Rongsentemjen Ao, explained on the “Importance of ATMA Farm School” to farm students.
The main resource persons of the training were Talimeren H.E.A and Imnuksungba H.E.A, from district horticulture office Mokokchung, who recently underwent a specialised training in promoting of Horticulture Farming in Israel. They trained the farmers on insects, pests and disease management of vegetables; post harvest management of vegetables; training and pruning of orchards; special management in orange cultivation; and general management of orchards. Besides, Citrus rejuvenation using various chemicals and instruments were also demonstrated to the farmers. During the interaction hour, many farmers came forward and received tips about their experience in the field. The resource persons also explained to the farmers that in spite of barren land, farmers in Israel perform “unimaginable harvest” in their agri-horticulture products due to application of latest technical know-how knowledge in their farming. The resource persons also encouraged the farm students citing that farmers in the state can also perform the same, if not more, as the land were more fertile than Israel.
