Free medical service for IIM-Shillong staff

After providing free computer training, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Shillong has decided to provide free health care to all its contract staff.
The B-School today entered into agreement through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda and Homeopathy (NEIAH) to provide medical services to its outsourced staff free of cost. "I am happy to get the help of NEIAH in our desire to ensure better working conditions for our outsourced employees," IIM-Shillong director A.K. Dutta said after signing the agreement with NEIAH.
NEIAH is an autonomous organization under the department of Ayush at the premises of the super specialty hospital, the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) in Shillong.
Doctors from NEIAH would be available for the purpose on all working days, wherein medicines which are available with NEIAH will be provided free of cost to them.
However, the students, faculty members and officers of the premier institute would be given free medical care but they have to pay for the medicines exclusively.
S.P. Bhattacharjee, director of NEIAH said, "NEIAH would like to facilitate for the IIM staff with new facilities of Health Care System as a mutual exchange of Institutional support".
IIM Shillong had advocated supporting the local populace to as far as possible. From free lunches to Christmas vouchers for the contract staff and immediate family members, the Institute had been supporting them for their sincerity and commitment to work.
In the past, the institute also took the initiative, to provide free computer education with the quest to empower them with the basic knowledge of computers which have helped a good number to find better sources of gainful employment elsewhere.
