As the 16-day ultimatum served to M/s PABSCON, a company undertaking two-lane RCC Bridge over a tributary of Dhansiri River, ended Thursday with no progress at construction site, the Western Sümi Students’ Union (WSSU) is now seriously considering alternative future course of action.
In connection with this, the union has convened an emergency meeting of all its unit presidents and general secretaries December 16, 8:30 a.m. at WSSU office, Dimapur. WSSU November 29 last had served ultimatum to PABSCON urging the latter to resume construction works soon for early bridge completion.
Upon the expiry of its ultimatum, a team of WSSU Wednesday conducted a joint inspection of the stalled project, along with representatives from All Sümi Students’ Union (SKK).
Talking to this reporter at the stalled project site, the team expressed dismay over the casual attitude of the company and said the issue can not be compromised.
Pointing out that it had offered enough time to the firm to resume construction works, the union president Daniel H. Sümi said: “They have cheated us. This issue can not be compromised.”
The union earlier had said it was disheartened at the dereliction of works which was scheduled to be completed within 24 months. The work on the project started on November 9, 2007.
