Reiterating its earlier demand published in this daily on December 14, the Niuland Area GBs and VEC coordination committee has appealed to outgoing DIS Niuland Kitoli Naje to hand over charge of new DIS Niuland V. Shihoto Zhimomi, as per the order issued by the government. The three signatories, head GB Kuhoxu village, Phushito Zhimomi, GB, Hovishe village, Howoto Hollo and head GB, Viyito village, Vikiye Zhimo, has requested Kitoli that handing and taking over charge must be completed within 10 days from the date of issue of notification.
The GBs further added that Niuland Area GB’s Union (NAGU) even wrote a letter to her on December 3 requesting her to hand over the charge in the interest of the people, but failed to take note of the request made by the union.
Agitated by “her ignorant attitude and disobeying the government’s order”, members of all mass based organizations of Niuland area including the land owners/donors of Niuland town (Hovishe, Kuhoxu and Viyito villages) represented by GBs held a meeting on December 14 at Niuland and resolved to not allow office of DIS Niuland to run until the handing and taking over was completed. However, the GBs alleged that on request made by staff of DIS Niuland, the decision to close down the office of DIS Niuland has been temporarily called off.
The GBs, also the landowners of Niuland, informed all that landowners/donors of Niuland town would not be held responsible for any untoward incident arising out in the office of DIS Niuland due to non-compliance to transfer order by Katoli Naje, adding the education department would be held responsible and answerable to the people for any untoward incident.
Meanwhile, VEC coordination committee under Niuland sub-division has urged the higher authority to understand the ongoing ground realities and resolve the impasse. The committee convener V. Phushika Aomi and secretary Kuhovi Yeptho in a press release stated that grievances of the teachers cannot be avoided by the VECs when teachers entitlement annual salary are held up for not having proper DDO in the establishment at such festive season. VECs further appealed to the DIS Niuland to cooperate with the government in the interest of safeguarding the education institution from being misused by the authority.
