Thousands of people including chief minister, Neiphiu Rio and his wife and also from neighbouring villages attended the second day of the three-day centenary celebration of Chiechama Baptist Church at Chiechama.
Rio and his wife also attended the morning service on Saturday and greeted the people.
In his short speech Rio said Nagas who were head hunters were transformed by the Christian missionaries.
He thanked the Christian missionaries for not only spreading the gospel of Christ but also transforming Naga society to a great extent.
Rev. Kok also greeted the people of Chiechama on the occasion on behalf of Baptist World Alliance and urged them to rise and shine for Christ.
He said in today’s society, there were many Christians without actions who failed to rise and shine for Christ.
He said Nagaland has the world’s largest Baptist population, and also lauded the performances by Naga choirs witnessed by him on few occasions in Chiang Mai, Thailand and Hawaii in USA.
Rev. Lhouzoviu Shuya, president of Angami Baptist Church Council also greeted the people of Chiechama.
The speakers during the celebrations included Rev. John Kok, vice president Baptist World Alliance and senior pastor Kuala Lumpur Baptist Church, Malaysia, Rev, Bonny Resu General secretary Asia Pacific Baptist Federation and Grace Kok, Kuala Lumpur Baptist Church Malaysia.
Central Baptist Church Kohima Choir, Chiechama Baptist Church Choir and Nerhema Baptist Choir presented songs on the occasion.
The inaugural day was marked by unveiling of Cross at Viipriitsie by Rev. Keviyikielie Linyii, executive , ABCC , centenary gate by Thezienyii Metha, associate pastor and centenary monolith by Rev Bonny Resii, Rev. Bonny Resu , general secretary Asia Pacific Baptist Federation.
The centenary monolith was blessed upon with a prayer by R. Zhavise Vihienuo advisor centenary and centenary choir presented a special devotional song.
The centenary celebration flag was unfurled by Rev Neingulie Dzeyie, Advisor Centenary, who also led the congregation to the centenary complex for the first devotional service where Rev. Bonny Resu, general secretary Asia pacific Baptist federation was main speaker.
