The faculty, staff and the spouses of Clark Theological College organized an advance birthday celebration for Rev. Dr. I. Ben Wati on December 16.
I. Ben Wati was born at Impur on December 18, 1920, and has the distinction of being the first Naga to earn a Bachelor of Divinity (BD) degree and the first from Northeast India to obtain an MA degree.
A living legend for the Churches in India and abroad, he now resides in Oxford with his extended family.
He’s remembered today as a co-founder of three theological institutions, namely, Eastern Theological College (Jorhat), Union Biblical Seminary (Pune) and Clark Theological College (Mokokchung), and also the founder-member of Evangelical Fellowship of India (EFI).
He served in several national and international Christian organizations in different capacities and has authored a number of books, particularly in Ao, including a two volume autobiography.
At 90, he’s still active and strong.
