Entry restriction in Indo-Myanmar border

Mon district administration has informed all responsible that every members of the hills tribe – who was either a citizen of India or a citizen of Myanmar and who was ordinarily resident of any area within 16 kilometers on either side of India-Myanmar border – entering India across the said border should be in possession of a valid permit. The permit must be issued by the authority of Government of India or the Government of Myanmar or issued by the designated issuing authority of the respective Governments. “He/She shall not, on the basis of the permit move into the area in India which is beyond 16 Kms from the aforesaid frontier,” the DC Mon, Dinesh Kumar, informed in an order. This order is in connection with the amended earlier 1968 Notification of the Ministry of Home Affairs Government of India issued on 21.07.2010 and which came into force w.e.f 21.08.2010.
