Imchen exhorts AKM conference

The 65 general conference of Ao Students’ Conference (Ao Kaketshir Mungdang- AKM) got underway at host village Ungma.
The conference is being held on the theme ‘Equitable Progress’ (Liromedem Terenlok) where more than 2000 students from various units of AKM are attending the conference as delegates.
The inaugural program of AKM was graced by home minister Imkong L Imchen as the chief guest.
Delivering his inaugural address, Imchen an ex-President of AKM harped on the tunes of unity and called upon congregation not to destroy the future by conspiring against each other. Rather, one should try to find out ways and do corrective measures so that the society remained at peace, Imchen said. Quoting the popular phrase “Students of today are the leaders of tomorrow” he further encouraged students to be sincere and hard working in whatever they do for they would become real leaders of tomorrow.
Earlier in the program, Imolemba, chairman Ungma village council extended welcome to all delegates to the conference.
Meanwhile, deputy commissioner Mokokchung, Lithrongla G Chishi also exhorted the gathering. The program also witnessed presentation of a special song by the office bearers, executives and senior executive of AKM. The inaugural program was followed by talent presentation from Suyim Students’ Union.
The second day of the conference would be graced by state chief minister Neiphiu Rio as the chief guest.
