NCSU Phek district emergency meeting: Phek district Nagaland Contractors and Suppliers Union (NCSU) has convened an emergency meeting on January 25, 12pm at Hotel Fira, Jail road Kohima to deliberate serious issues relating to the union. All the office bearers have been requested to attend the meeting.
VCK condemns rape: Village Council Kikruma (VCK) has strongly condemned the alleged raped case of a minor girl by Tsahuyo Thira of Kikruma village on January 3. The council chairman and its head GB of the village appealed the law enforcement agencies to book the culprit and furnish “severe punishment”.
Community mobilization training: District education officer, Dimapur has informed all VEC chairmen, head teacher/teacher in-charge, 2 VEC members, 2 teachers, Anganwadi workers, EBRC personnel, SISs, IED volunteers/resource person to attend community mobilization training. The training would be held on January 24 for EBRC Kuda (Urban) & Kushiabill, January 25 for EBRC Medziphema and January 27 for EBRC Niuland at 9am at town hall.
Confirmation of service for grade-III & V staff: Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Kohima has informed all heads of department that the medical board examination for Confirmation, Invalidation and Commutation Pension etc for grade-III & V staff would be held at the office of CMO Kohima, para-medical colony, Kohima. The examination would be held under the chairmanship of CMO on February 3, May 5, August 4 and November 3.
DC Phek direct villagers: Deputy commissioner Phek, Mikha Lomi directed villages within the district to select members of respective village councils in accordance with the customary practices within 15 days and submit the names to the respective local administrative officers. The DC also stated administrative officers will supervise the selection process of all the village councils within their jurisdiction so as to ensure a peaceful result.
ECI to commemorate ‘National voter’s day’: ‘National Voters Day’ would be observed in Mokokchung on January 25, at 11am at town hall Mokokchung. Additional deputy commissioner and electoral registration officer, Mokokchung, R. Asenla Keitzar in a press communiqué directed all AEROs, BLOs, political parties, NGOs, head officers, principals of colleges, higher secondary schools, schools, ward chairmen and GBs under the district to attend the function.
Natl level fire and evacuation drill at Kohima: Directorate of fire and emergency service, Nagaland has informed that it would conduct fire and evacuation drill on January 21 at Mezhur Higher Secondary School Kohima at 10am.
Mon district administration informs: SDO (C) Mon has informed that population census of Nagaland would commence from February 9-28. According to an official bulletin, revisional round would be held from March 1-5 with reference date as March 1.
SABCK home coming revival: Sumi Aphuyemi Baptist Church Kohima (SABCK) has requested all Sumi Aphuyemi politicians, government servants, contractors/suppliers, businessmen, public leaders, public, national workers, students, NCRC, Roman Catholic, AG to attend homecoming revival hour on January 28 at Pughoboto town. TDUN nominating committee: Tuensang District Users’ Network (TDUN) has setup a nominating committee on January 11 for selection of its president. Network informed that TDUN advisor would be leading the network as acting president until a new president was selected.

Peddler arrested: SOT team of Dimapur police arrested one drug peddler on January 20 at Rail bazaar. According to police, the arrested has been identified as one Dhonraj Morah, S/o Raghunath Morah of Nagaon, Assam and seized from his possession 100 boxes of Spasmo Proxivon containing 14000 capsules and 160 strips of Relipen. A case has been registered under Dimapur East Police Station.
Ganja seized: Police personal manning Chumukedima check gate recovered 20Kgs of contraband ganja on January 19 from one Dimapur bound Pfütsero NST bus. According to police, the accused has been identified as one Atole Chakhesang, 31 years, of Mesulumi village and Witiu Kapfo of Pfütseromi village. A case has been registered in this connection, added police.
KVC emergency meeting: Emergency meeting of Khuzama Village Council would be held on January 29, 10.30 am at its new panchayat hall to discuss matters on election of village constitution. All members of the village have been asked to attend the meeting.

NSCN (I-M) on burning of jungles
DIMAPUR: NSCN (I-M) ministry of “kilo affairs” has informed that as per the decision of its steering committee arrived on January 18, all indiscriminate burning of jungles and use of chemicals in rivers/streams that were hazardous to aquatic lives, organic or processed, would be strictly banned throughout “Nagalim”. In an emailed statement, the NSCN (I-M) ministry of “kilo affairs” stated this was to preserve the flora, fauna and aquatic biodiversities in “Nagalim” and cautioned that violators would be sternly dealt with appropriate punitive measures.
Four Congress members join NPF
DIMAPUR: Four Congress workers of 26th Aonglenden village unit of Kubza have tendered their resignation on January 18 in support of Toshipokba, former NPF candidate 26 A/C. The resigned members, general secretary ACC Kubza unit Imtinungba Longkumer, executive members Kubza unit Longrasucha and Imsutoshi, and general secretary youth wing Kubza unit M. Kidong stated they joined the NPF to render their support to chief minister, Neiphiu Rio, home minister and I/C Mokokchung district, Imkong L. Imchen, and party president Dr. Shurhozelie.
One run over by truck
Dimapur, JAN 20 (NPN): One person, identified as Joshua Sema (28), resident of Diphupar ‘B’ was killed in a hit and run case on Thursday. According to Dimapur traffic police, the victim was killed on the spot by a speeding truck near Diphupar police station around 6.45 pm. The truck fled from the scene after hitting the victim. The victim’s body was later handed over to family members after completing formalities. (Staff Reporter)
GBs directed to attend R-Day programme
DIMAPUR: GB Union Dimapur has informed all GBs of Dimapur to attend the Republic Day function at DDSC Stadium on January 26, 8.30am in GBs waist coat. Attendance will be taken in both the functions. Union general secretary Yeheto Zhimomi stated this was per directive of the deputy commissioner Dimapur. The union also informed that its office will remain closed and tax would not be collected in the Super Market on January 26 being a holiday. Meanwhile, on the ongoing prepaid SIM users’ verification drive, Zhimomi stated while some telecom companies were accepting GBs’ ‘residential certificate’, some refused to, thereby causing harassment. He asserted that as GBs were appointed by the government, and felt companies cannot refuse their certificates.
Mass social work at Longleng
DIMAPUR: In view of the forthcoming Republic Day celebration on January 26, deputy commissioner Longleng C.K. Nihekhu Sema has informed that there would be a mass social work on January 24 at Longleng town from 7am onwards.
In this connection, all heads of offices under Longleng district have been directed to be in station for supervision, and also to clean their respective office premises.
Further, Longleng Town Council and public of the town have been requested to co-operate and participate in the mass social work, while ward GBs were directed to supervise the social work in their respective wards.
Census training at Dimapur
DIMAPUR: A three-day long training for census supervisors and enumerators got underway at the conference hall of deputy commissioner (DC) Dimapur from January 20.
DC and principal census operations officer Dimapur, Maongwati Aier while welcoming the supervisors and enumerators to the training, urged them to be sincere in their duties in providing accurate census for proper planning, stated an official bulletin. He said the final phase and review would begin from March 1-5, which would mark the end of the census operation.
DC also said the first phase of census, encompassing house listing operation, had been done successfully. He further informed that no casual leave or earned leave would be entertained for responsible officers during the census operation.
The three-day training programme would be supervised by three master trainers Mezhulhouhi Angami assistant professor, Er. Toshiakum Asstt., and Dr. Tino Chang, EAC & census charge officer Dimapur Sadar.
