Major Gen. N. George Chief of Staff 3 Corps Rangapahar on Thursday assured that the Army will vacate government Patta land in various pockets of Dimapur within a month’s time as soon as receiving clearance order from the Ministry of Defence.
The assurance was given to deputy commissioner (DC) Dimapur Maongwati Aier when the Chief of Staff paid him a courtesy visit at his office.
During their interaction, the deputy commissioner requested the Army unit to hand over the government patta land to the Civil Administration which the army had occupied at Block no 1, 7, 8 & 9 in and around Dimapur town. The DC also requested for passage through Rangapahar Army cantonment of the four (4) lane from Dimapur to Kohima as the four lane has been passing through Khashiram, Aoyimti, Rangapahar, Thahekhu and Sovima village.
To this, the Chief of Staff 3 Corps Rangapahar assured that as per the availability of land, the army would allow the four lanes to pass through Rangapahar Army cantonment and for which due compensation for the land should be made.
According to DIPR, Maj Gen N. George also assured Aier of assistance through Military Civic Action Plan (MCAP) to the local youth in the field of sports and recreational activities through Dimapur District Sports Council.
The deputy commissioner assured that encroachment within Rangapahar cantonment by the public would be properly verified and checked and that there should be no hindrance in constructing boundary wall in the Rangapahar Army Cantonment.
