Deputy commissioner (DC) and chairman district hospital management committee, Mon Dinesh Kumar formally inaugurated the new RDC building (maternity & paediatric ward) at district hospital, Mon on January 20 in the presence of government officials, NGOs and medical staffs of the district.
Speaking at the occasion the DC said that Mon district have been functioning without proper maternity and paediatric ward for a long time and added that with the opening of the new building for maternity and paediatric ward initiated by the MSF, the health care facilities of both the mother and child would improve.
Lauding the good coordination and team work of the MSF and the medical officials of the H&FW Department in the district, he said the success or the failure in the development of the hospital was a joint venture of both the MSF and medical staff of the hospital and both the team would be equally responsible for its achievement in the management of the hospital.
The DC also called upon the medical staff of the hospital not to be solely dependent on the MSF as it would be taking care of the hospital only for a short period, and further urged the staff to adopt work culture for sustainable management of the hospital in the years to come.
The DC also voiced optimism that with the free medical equipment, medicines and infrastructures provided by the MSF and the assistance of the state government, Mon civil hospital would soon become a model hospital. He also stated at present the Mon hospital was the only hospital in the state to be functioning with an evening shift and called upon the public to avail the opportunity.
The programme was chaired by Dr. M.A. Wati, medical superintendent and vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Ricky Embuido, MSF.
