Community mobilization training: District education officer, Dimapur has informed that community mobilization training for Nuiland and Doyapur would be held on January 27, 9am at town hall Dimapur.
Farewell program: A farewell programme of BDO Sanis block was held on January 18 at Wokha organized by VDB union and staff of Sanis block. The progamme was chaired by Aremo Patton, APO Sanis and Temjen. Outgoing BDO Sanis appreciated the VDB secretaries for their cooperation and also advised secretaries to maintain transparency and to cooperate with the new BDO for development of the village.
Sumi Laghilato area meeting: Sumi Laghilato Area (SLA) has convened a meeting on January 25, 10am at Western Sumi Hoho Ki, Chekiye village 3rd mile. All SLA GBs, chairman and office bearers have been requested to attend the meeting.
WCSU new team: Wokha Circle Students’ Union (WCSU) in its meeting held on January 17 elected a new team of office bearers for the tenure 2011- 13. The new team would be headed by Nkhao K. Tungoe as president and Y. Evungthung Ezung as general secretary. Meanwhile, the union also extended its best wishes to all its members preparing for the forthcoming HSLC, HSSLC and degree exams.
‘Dementia’ lauds ‘Divine Connection’: ‘Dementia’ band has feted ‘Divine Connection’ for their success in MTv Rock On, National Rock Contest. ‘Dementia’ in a press note emailed here stated “To the nation you are the winners of the contest but to us you are also the champions of music and life”. While wishing them luck, ‘Dementia’ further hoped the band would transform the world through music and continue to shine for Him who makes all things possible.
SASSU new office Bearers: Singti Area Sangtam Students’ Union (SASSU) elected a new team of office bearers during its 14th general session held at Natsa village from January 6-9 for the tenure 2011-13. The new officials are Aketo Sangtam, president, and Litingse, general secretary.
OCSU annual session held: The 61st annual session of Old Changsu Students’ Union (OCSU) was held on December 28 under the theme “value of mother tongue and education”. C. Hachio Patton, PS to parliamentary secretary Geology and Mining, I&FC and Border affairs, as chief guest and Ekyimo Odyuo, project assistant SSA Wokha as speaker. In this regard, the union has thanked the chief guest, Sunday school department, ‘Forever’ band, Eloe Hoho and elders of the villages and well wishers for donating financial aid towards the union.
KSU caution students: Kidima Students’ Union (KSU) has appealed to all its members to work hard with sincerity and commitment in their studies so as to bring laurels to the village. The union also cautioned its members against indulging in riots, indiscipline or immoral behavior in school/colleges, adding stern action would be taken against defaulters.
FGN Yim region refutes new item: FGN Yimchunger region has refuted the news item on the termination of one Throngso Yimchunger by Medanpeyu of FGN Yimchunger region. FGN Yimchunger region “Leacy Hoho” speaker Throngso Yim in a press note clarified the FGN Yimchunger region had not received any termination copy or any knowledge about termination so far. He stated “Leacy Hoho” was appointed by Khedage Singya and that Medanpeyu had no authority to terminate while he had completed his term as “caretaker”. Throngso Yim also said that misuse of power as claimed by Medanpeyu Asoba was baseless and questionable.
GBs to cooperate with census dept: Reiterating its earlier resolution on December 14, GBs of Nagaland has assured to extend its cooperation and assist the census department for fair and accurate enumeration of 2010-11 census. Nagaland GB federation president K.C Zhenito Yepthomi and general secretary A. Taku Longkumer appealed to all village, town authorities and citizens to provide accurate enumeration of the village and town.
KVC general meeting: General meeting of Kashiram village has been convened on January 26, 10am at the residence of its treasurer. All residents have been informed to attend the meeting and to submit agendas if any to the council secretary Jambemo Odyuo on or before January 27.
DDGBA condemns abduction: Dimapur district GBs Association (DDGBA) condemned the abduction of a vegetable dealer on January 19. While terming the incident as “uncomfortable and unacceptable”, the union said such incidents affect business activities in Dimapur. DDGBA urged the law enforcing agencies to rescue the abducted victim and appealed the vegetable dealers not to avenge on the customers for the wrong doing of some “unscrupulous” people.
4th North East Poetry Festival: The 4th North East Poetry Festival 2011 will be held in March 2011 on the theme ‘Promotion & Protection of Child Rights. Entry forms for the poetry writing competition on the said theme can be obtained from the monthly newsletter of Dimensions ‘The Speakers’ Corner. All details are mentioned in the entry form. BJP ST Morcha new leaders: The Bhartiya Janata Party ST (Morcha) has selected Sepili L. Stm as general secretary of BJP (ST Morcha), Sitara Singh as vice president of BJP (ST Morcha) incharge Dimapur and S. Tongpise as BJP (ST Morcha) incharge Kiphire. This was unanimously decided during a general meeting of the party held on January 6 at Kohima.
SKUD general meeting held: 24th annual general meeting of Sapotimi Kughuko Union Dimapur (SKUD) was held on January 11 at the residence of its banker. The union re-elected all the office bearers for another tenure during the meeting. The team would be led by Vitokhu Achumi as president and Yecto Chophy as general secretary.
Ziza SHG foundation day celebrated: Ziza Self Help Group (SHG) celebrated its 1st foundation day on January 10 at the residence of Dr. Etsemo Khuvung. Welcome address presented by Renponthung Khuvung, exhortation by elders and invitees, brief profile of the society was delivered by Chenithung Lotha while benediction was made by Kidao Ovung.
ANTA new team: The All Nagaland Taxi Association Kohima unit has selected Keneingulie Solo as its vice president, Avito Sumi as information and publicity secretary, Vizo Kerho as convenor of action committee, Menuovilie Suohu as co-convenor of action committee and Asang Ao as secretary of action committee. The new members were selected during an emergency meeting of ANTA Kohima unit members along with its advisor on January 20.
MSU general conference: The 47th general conference of Meluri Students’ Union was held on January 4 and 5 at Badminton Stadium, Meluri town. Z. Nyusietho Nyuthe, ADC Phek, graced the occasion as the chief guest and spoke on reclaiming the past traditions and values. During the session, a new team of office bearers was selected for the tenure 2011-14 with Saturwie Nyusou as president and Chivisie Kajiri as general secretary.
Health Mela at Chenwetnyu village: Health mela was held at Chenwetnyu village, Mon district on January 8, organized by medical department under NRHM Mon government of Nagaland. Around 200 to 300 patients were treated and provided free medicines. The Mela was led by Dr. Joy, deputy CMO, Dr Mukherjee, DIO and Dr. Y M Singh, Mon along with 9 doctors, medical staff, NRHM staff and Chen area ANM. Further, CVC chairman has expressed gratitude to the organizers of the health mela, doctors and staff for rendering their services for the villagers.
Seminar on marketing strategies: One day seminar on ‘awareness on marketing strategies’ was held on January 18 at Doyang reservoir area, sponsored by national fisheries development board led by deputy commissioner Wokha. Fishermen’s union has expressed gratitude to deputy commissioner for assuring to construct a resting shed for the fishermen and public. Meanwhile, the district fishery officer (DFO) Wokha taught the fishermen on marketing strategies, better farming, better business and living. Further, the union requested the department in-charge for earlier completion of ice-plant which is under construction at Doyang area.
