Eastern Sumi Students Union (ESSU) second day golden jubilee was celebrated on January 15 with I.Ihezhe Zhimomi, founding president of ESSU and ex-minister unveiling the monolith of ESSU. Pukhayi Assumi, ex-minister also exhorted the students. Tale of Inakha and Ghonili was played by Lizuto village students’ union, folk dance by Aghunato village students’ union and Phisa village students’ union, folk song (ayekuzule) by Litsumi village students’ union, and cultural competition by all the constituent units. While in the evening literary session guest of honour was Kughazhe Yepthomi, additional director art and culture HoD Kohima.
In the session Zhetovi Yepthomi, founding Vice-president and Ex-minister, V.C Hokuto, ex-General Secretary ESSU and retired DIS and L.N Akato Sema, Registrar Guwahati High Court Kohima Bench exhorted the students while vote of thanks was delivered by Ghovili Achumi, project director Kohima. Speech by the out-going president Hekato Y.Achumi and the president elect, Inahoto G.Swu was followed by 40 villages and 1,500 delegates participated in the jubilee celebration. Kiphire District Sumi Students’ Union (KDSSU), which was formerly a part of ESSU, participated.
The president and his colleagues has thanked ESSU planning board members under the chairmanship of Ahovi Zhimomi, elders and ex-officio members of Aghunato area, host town Tokheho Yeptho MLA and CLP leader and Pukhayi Assumi, ex-minister for their donation.
