Expressing resentment over opening of booth booking system for taxis by its Kohima counterpart, All Nagaland Taxi Association (ANTA) Dimapur unit on Sunday threatened to impose taxi bandh at Dimapur if the former failed to stop the booth booking system on or before January 25. A joint statement issued by ANTA president Tohozhe Awomi and general secretary Ahoshe Chophi alleged that ANTA Kohima unit was collecting an extra Rs.20 from taxi drivers besides the fixed parking tax, and harassing taxi drivers to follow the booth system “forcefully”. Stating that the purpose of the association was to look after the welfare of taxi drivers and owners, and not seek personal benefits from the taxis, ANTA Dimapur urged the responsible authorities to look into the matter for the convenience of taxis plying between Kohima and Dimapur. The association warned it would resort to impose an indefinite taxi bandh at Dimapur if its demand was not met within the stipulated time.
