Tragopans released in Tuensang

Several Tragopans, the state bird, preserved by Bhumpak Hongkong Village Council (BHVC) were released into the wild at Chang Theological Conference (CTC) micro project, Aujem Bhumpak Hongkong on Saturday.
Three Tragopans- one male and two females- were released at CTC micro project, Bhumpak Hongkong village in Tuensang district, in the presence of Chang Khulie Setshang, Confederation of Chang Students’ Union, CTC and BHVC members.
The village council has passed a resolution, banning hunting and slaughtering of any kind of animals and birds within the village jurisdiction, in a bid to preserve the bionetwork in the area. Those found violating the resolution would be imposed fine, the council said. While releasing the state birds, CKS vice president I.N. Chingmak, CCSU speaker Mongba and CTC vice president Binyongkong also addressed the gathering.
The programme was chaired by W. Chingmak, convener of Micro Project Controlling Committee, while S. Choba, pastor BBC invoked God’s blessing.
