7 UGs nabbed in Mnp

At least seven cadres of different underground groups including two KCP (MC) wanted by NIA (National Investigation Agency) were nabbed by the security forces in an intensified security operation in connection with Republic Day celebration in Manipur.
The two KCP (MC)-Lanheiba group cadres identified as K Gandhi (45) and K Bungo (31), both hailing from Nongren village were nabbed by troops of 23 Assam Rifles during a counter insurgency operation at Nongren village in Imphal East district in the early hour today. According to AR sources, the duo were wanted by NIA in a case related to a failed attempt to blow up Imphal Raj Bhavan three years back.
They were also involved in the transportation of IED which was triggered at Telipati in Imphal on the night of January 21. Earlier, the KCP (MC) had claimed responsible for the blast saying that it was a part of its boycott to Republic Day celebration.
Further, a KYKL cadre identified as N Santosh (21) was also nabbed by a combined team of 23 and 39 AR in another counter insurgency operation today.
Also, four UGs, two each from PLA and PREPAK were arrested by police commandos of Imphal East. The UGs identified as Konsam Ramesh @ Boycha (28) was nabbed with a 9 mm pistol loaded with two live rounds and Nongthombam Ibochouba Singh (39) with a 9mm pistol (Lugger, made in Czech Republic) loaded with one live round. Earlier, two PREPAK cadres identified as Maisnam Ibomcha (60) and Thiyam Nityai @ Luxmi (48) were arrested by the police commando team and seized one 9 mm pistols each from their possessions.
Meanwhile, after 10 day in captivity of the Karbi Peoples Liberation Tiger (KPLT), two drivers and one handyman of bullet tankers were released unharmed Monday night. They reached Imphal today. Drivers Longjam Arun Singh and Thokchom Jiten Singh along with the handyman Nanao @ Suresh Singh of three Gas Bullet Tankers were abducted on January 16 last after an attack on one of the tankers at Karbi Anglong while they were heading towards Imphal.
