This is my first time that I faced a financial transaction problem with ATM. On 24th January around 3 pm, I tried to draw an amount of `10,500 from ATM located at ARTC Dimapur from my savings account at SBI evening branch, Dimapur. But instead of cash, the machine rolled out a written slip which reads, “Sorry unable to process” and further instructed to contact the branch. At the same time, it was displayed on the screen “Insufficient funds”. So in inserted the ATM card a second time and checked the balance. My balance account showed that the amount which I tried to draw was already deducted from my account. It came out clearly in print. I was surprised. I could not approach any bank as it was already late in the evening. I took out a mini statement of my account and it showed all the recent transactions and showed the last transaction as “10,500.00-ATM WDL”. I was at loss and I wonder if this is some kind of cyber game like “WikiLeaks” where money leaks.
Next day on January 25, I went straight to my branch and told the matter to the person in-charge of ATM. He gave me a form to fill-up which was actually a complaint letter to the chief manager for the same problem. He said I was not the only one and there were other victims as well.
If these things continue, how can we really rely on the efficiency of E-Banking in future? Though I may get my money back, yet my work is stranded for three days. This is my request to the techies of Dimapur E-Banking hub to fight against the link errors and malfunctions in computer networks for the welfare of the general public.
