Tizit area students’ union (TASU) has expressed strong resentment over the accusation by Assam NGOs that Nagas were behind the murder of a lady of Namtola Hati camp village January 17 last. Asserting that Assam NGOs (non-Ahoms) were accusing the Nagas without ascertaining the fact, the TASU president Chemkhah Konyak and general secretary Manzang Kann, in a joint release, said Nagas were fed up with their (Assam NGOs) false allegation and propaganda. The TASU revealed that upon conducting joint investigation and spot verification by NGOs from both sides, it was learnt that the deceased and her husband ran opium business and had bitter feud between them as the deceased was often away from home for business purpose. The union also claimed that at one incident the husband had even cut the hand of the deceased. Hence, the TASU said before the completion of joint investigation, it would be wrong to wholly put the blame on Nagas without any evidence and witnesses. Expressing surprise over why the “side corner NGOs of Assam village (non-Ahoms) residing in the border areas” always passed the blame on Nagas at every “pin drop” incident that occurred there or outside among themselves, the TASU said there were several incidents and crimes that were committed by them (Assam) and blatantly blamed the Nagas.
