Celebrating Republic Day with a difference, army officials led by Lieutenant Rubina Kaur and Nb. Sub. Rajender Singh of 3rd Corps Rangapahar visited orphans of Wondang-Ki Charitable Foundation (WCF) on Wednesday.
Speaking to the children, Lt. Kaur professed that to achieve in life, one does not need to be extra-ordinary but have a focused mind and a clean heart. She encouraged the children not to be disheartened because of their background, but to take up the challenge as an opportunity to be the motivators and inspirers of others around them. While motivating the children, Lt. Kaur commented that academic studies are not the only platform for success and that a child could get involved in other extra-curricular activities to prove their worth.
Earlier, managing director WCF, N. T Kikon while welcoming the guests, enlightened that the orphanage was set up in the year 2001 with the sole motive to provide shelter to orphans and helpless girl children.
He commented that girl children are given priority since they are more vulnerable in the society.
Chairman and founder WCF Dr. Y. Y. Kikon Rtd. Director (horticulture), expressing gratitude to army personnel for their love and concern to the children termed the visit as a landmark in the history of the orphanage.
He stated that the all-girls orphanage was privileged enough to come across a lady officer whose visit would boost their ambitions to achieve something in life.
Later during the visit, the army personnel gifted eatables and toiletries to the orphanage.
