Nagaland celebrates R-Day with fanfare

WOKHA: In Wokha, Republic Day was celebrated at local ground with minister for urban development and higher education Dr Shürhozelie Liezietsu as chief guest.
Highlights of the programme included folk dances by Wokha Town N. Longidang Cultural Club and the Nepali community, folk songs by Wokha Town Lakhuti Eloe Cultural Club and ENPO Wokha unit. Dr. Shürhozelie, who earlier inspected the seven participating parade contingents took the salute, and inaugurated the exhibition stalls put up by various departments.
Food items were distributed to jail inmates at Wokha sub-jail and patients of Dr. Motsuo Memorial District Hospital by Wokha Chambers of Commerce, patients of 41 AR Hospital by Kyong Eloe Hoho, and patients of Mhondamo Memorial Hospital by the Senior Noble Klan. (Correspondent)
TUENSANG: Minister for school education, SCERT Nagaland, Nyeiwang Konyak, on Wednesday graced the Republic Day programme as the chief guest at parade ground Tuensang.
He took the Rastriya salute from eight parade contingents. The celebration was also marked by a cultural dance by Chang cultural troupe, Yimchungru cultural troupe, Sangtam cultural troupe and Khiamniungan cultural troupe. Indian Red Cross Society Tuensang and Chamber of Commerce Tuensang also donated food items to jail in-mates and patients at district hospital Tuensang and Assam Rifles. (Correspondent)
MOKOKCHUNG: The 62nd Republic Day was celebrated at Mokokchung town with minister for forest, environment, ecology and wild life, M.C. Konyak as the chief guest. Highlights of the programme were cultural and tableaus presentation by nine departments including Mokokchung Municipal Council showcasing their achievements in the district. Tableaus was presented by ATMA Mokokchung, DRDA, horticulture, school education, health and family welfare, civil defense and home guard, social welfare and forest department. (Correspondent)
ZUNHEBOTO: With the rest of the country Republic Day was celebrated at Zunheboto at public local ground with speaker NLA Kiyaneilie Peseyie gracing the occasion as chief guest. He unfurled the national flag at the ceremonial ground and took the salute from 16 contingents. After delivering the Republic Day speech, the chief guest inaugurated the exhibition stalls put up by ATMA (seven Stalls), 6 (six) stalls by RD, CSD canteens: by AR and BSF Satakha, Self Help Group and Vety. Dept.
Presentation was given to best farmer award sponsored by ATMA under different given categories, nominated by Agri and Allied Department. As part of the celebration, feeding of patients/inmates in sub-jail was also carried out at civil hospital by president of business union Zunheboto.
PEREN: Peren district also celebrated the 62nd Indian Republic day with great enthusiasm at local ground Peren. Minister of soil & water conservation, land resources development, P. Longon graced the occasion as the chief guest. He unfurled the national flag and took salute from the eleven (11) parade contingents and later inspected the parade contingents. The chief guest handed over cash prizes of `1000 each and certificate by the ATMA, Peren to the best farmers under Peren district. The chief guest also inaugurated the exhibition stalls put up by the department of Medical, Agriculture, DRDA and Industries - Peren.
PHEK: Republic day was celebrated at Phek local ground Phek with minister for health & family welfare, Kuzholuzo Nienu gracing the occasion as the chief guest. The chief guest unfurled the national flag and inspection of parade contingents. This was followed by distribution of awards to the Phek district employees of the year. The chief guest also presented the award to GHSS Phek which was declared as the best contingent. The program was also attended by dignitaries, commissioner and secretary health & family welfare Menukhol John, director health & family welfare, DC Phek, ADC Phek, SP commandant 7 AR and host of public leaders.
MON: Republic Day in Mon was celebrated with G. Kaito Aye, minister road & bridges, as chief guest, at local ground Mon Hq. The chief guest unfurled the national flag and took salute from seven contingents. The day long celebration was marked by cultural dance by Chui women cultural troupe and Tangshen men cultural troupe, display of arms and ammunition by 6th AR, exhibition cum sale stalls of Agri and allied department and exhibition football match between the District Planning Development Board-Xl and Konyak Union–Xl. KIPHIRE: Minister for agriculture, Dr. Chumben Murry graced the Republic day celebration as chief guest. The chief guest inaugurated the stall of seven agri & allied departments. Highlights of the programme were cultural dance by Phelungre union Kiphire and Seyouchung women group, Bhangra dance, song by Re-Evolution band. Altogether nine march past contingents participated. ABOI: Parliamentary secretary for industries and commerce Dr. KC Nihoshe graced the Republic Day Celebration at Aboi as the chief guest. Altogether 4 contingents took part in the Republic day parade.

MELURI: Republic Day celebration at Meluri public ground was graced by parliamentary secretary for geology and mining, irrigation and flood control and border affairs, Y Patton as the chief guest. After unfurling the tri-colour, the chief guest inspected the parade contingents. Among other dignitaries in the celebration included ADC­ Meluri, Peter Lichamo and police and army officers.
SHAMATOR: Shamator, headquarter of Yimchunger celebrated the 62nd Republic Day by hoisting of National Flag in all government offices, educational institutions and commercial building. The chief guest MLA & Chairman NHHDC Nagaland, Shetoyi Sumi unfurled the flag and took salute from the contingents. In the exhibition stalls, Assam Rifles got the first prize in the arms and ammunition exhibition while agri department bagged the second prize. The chief guest was accompanied by vice president Sumi Hoho, Yimchunger tribal council members, Yimchunger Akherü Arihako.
MEDZIPHEMA: Republic Day was celebrated at Medziphema with MLA & Chairman NIDC, Nuklutoshi as the chief guest. The chief guest unfurled the national flag and took salute from the contingents and later read out the republic day speech. Altogether nine contingents of both uniform and non-uniform participated in the March past. Other highlights of the function included cultural display by Medziphema Town church “A” and Khaibung youth cultural club and Retreat.
NOKLAK: PHED minister Dr. Ngangshi K. Ao unfurled the tri-coloured flag at Noklak town as the chief guest at Republic Day function at Noklak Town. After unfurling the national flag, he inspected the parade before delivering the Republic Day speech. He also took salute from the march past contingent comprising of 3rd NAP Noklak, Choklangan VG, Taknyu VG, ex-serviceman and Christian High School Noklak. The program also witnessed cultural dances performed by women cultural group, Noklak and men cultural group, Noklak.
Niuland sub-division: Niuland sub-division, 62nd Republic Day was celebrated in a befitting manner with active participation from administration, government staff, schools, self help groups, GBs and DBs of Niuland and neighbouring villages at public ground, Niuland.
The occasion was marked by flag hoisting by chief guest Dr. Neikiesalie Nicky Kire, chairman NKVIB who took the Rashtriya salute from seven contingents. Accompanied by ADC Niuland sub-division Hukhuli Chishi, Dr. Nicky inspected the contingent followed by the Republic Day speech. The formal function was followed by colourful cultural programme presented by Nihokhu village and Yeveto village. Later, the chief guest inaugurated the exhibition stalls put up by self help groups, agri and allied departments. (Staff Reporter)
Lions Club: The members of Lions Club of Dimapur, Leo Club of Dimapur & Lions Club of Dimapur - Blue Vanda celebrated Republic Day by hoisting the National Flag at Lions Centre. The flag was unfurled by president Lion Ramesh Mundra followed by National Anthem. The members of Lions Club of Dimapur also visited Civil Hospital and distributed fruits packet, sweets, biscuit and mineral water to the patients and prayed for their speedy recovery.
