ASU, USSC express gratitude

Asuto Students’ Union (ASU) has expressed gratitude to the people of Satami village for their timely intervention on January 18 incident, wherein a vehicle (Marshall) met with an accident 30 km away from Zunheboto district leaving seven people injured. A joint press release issued by ASU and Achikuchu Students’ Union thanked GPRN/NSCN Sumi Region care taker “tatar” Huvito Y. Yepthomi; Satami Church, Nito Mount and Aizuto; Kathara Baptist Church; CLF Asuto area; and NPF Zunheboto general secretary Kiyelu for extending financial and material help. Meanwhile, the unions expressed disappointment over the lack of staff at Zunheboto Civil Hospital during wee hours where only two nurses were available to nurse the injured. The unions also alleged that neither emergency doctor nor medical supervisor were at the hospital to attend to the injured victims.
Meanwhile, the 63rd United Sangtam Students’ Conference (USSC) general session was hosted by Kiphire Area Sangtam Students’ Union from January 13–16 at Kiphire town. The session was graced by minister for urban development and higher education, Dr. Shurhozelie as inaugural chief guest, while NSMDC chairman and MLA C. Kipili Sangtam graced the annual sports meet and Wokha SP Sejongmong the cultural session. USSC has acknowledged the service rendered by the host planning committee, DC and SP Kiphire, PHED, electrical, PWD (R&B), PWD (mechanical), donors and sponsors and Airtel Kiphire for their support and contributions towards the successful conduct of the session.
Conference also lauded area students’ union, village students’ union, frontal organizations of Sangtam tribe, Kiphire town dwellers, Kiphire town Baptist Lithro choir, volunteers, beauty pageant organizers and sponsors, resources persons, dance troupes, OTC worship team, Incipit band Dimapur, Kiphire town council, cable operator, Living Local band Longkhim, decoration group, gift presenters, chamber of commerce and medical team for their contribution towards the conference.
USSC stated that its 63rd session saw a record of 3916 delegates. The conference’s 64th session would be hosted at Tsongphong village under Longmatra area in 2012.
