ANTA Dmu bandh called off

: All Nagaland Taxi Association (ANTA) Dimapur Unit has called off the proposed “indefinite bandh” after intervention of district transport officer, Dimapur Thursday.
It may be mentioned that ANTA Dimapur unit opposed the decision of the ANTA Kohima on fee at pre-paid taxi ticket booking counter, parking and alleged harassment meted out to taxi drivers, had decided to go for indefinite bandh starting January 27.
District Transport Officer Dimapur, Nyamo Lotha said the proposed bandh was called off after he laid a platform to both the unions – All Nagaland Taxi Association Kohima and Dimapur unit to come to a “negotiating table”.
For this, the two unions have decided to have a joint sitting on January 31 at RTO office, Kohima to diffuse the issue.
It was learnt that pre-paid taxi counter was inaugurated Thursday at Kohima, but it was yet to get the permit from the RTO Kohima.
Maintaining that ANTA Dimapur unit was not against the pre-paid booking system at Kohima, unit president Tohozhe Awomi said amount charged at pre-paid booking counter was not limited.
He said taxis plying from Dimapur to Kohima were charged Rs. 20 extra at the counter.
Meanwhile, the ANTA and Dimapur Taxi Driver Union (DTDU), Dimapur Units have urged the district administration to provide proper security to the drivers at taxi parking in Kohima.
It reminded that drivers were facing a lot of harassment from the “landowners” at Kohima.
Stating that passengers traveling from Dimapur to Kohima were facing lot of trouble as taxis coming from Dimapur were not allowed to enter main town Kohima, the Dimapur unit urged the administration to remove the restriction.
Further, the Dimapur Unit and Dimapur Taxi Driver Union have decided to go for “Chakka bandh” unless administration looked into the grievances faced by its members.
