Funds alloted to VDBs,VCs: Pangyu

Parliamentary secretary RD&REPA, S. Pangyu Phom said that the government has empowered the Village Development Boards (VDBs) and the Village Councils (VCs) by allotting the funds to develop their respective areas. He said that the decision to develop areas has to come from the VDBs and the Village Councils.
Pangyu was speaking at the inauguration programme of Rural Haat for daily marketing build by department of rural development at Jalukie Bridge and family rest house at T. L. Angami Park on Saturday. Stating that the funds provided by the government have to be utilized in judicious manner, Pangyu said that the respective village councils should be dedicated and strong enough if they needed to develop the rural areas.
Describing the area as God’s blessing bestowed upon the people, Pangyu urged the people of New Chumukedima village to make use of the land to change the outlook of the state by developing resorts and marketing facilities in the area. He urged the New Chumukedima villagers to take responsibility of looking after the area.
The chief guest also congratulated T. L. Angami for coming up with a vision by developing tourists spot in the area which has been a blessing for the whole Nagas.
Pangyu unveiled a monolith at the family rest house at T. L. Angami Park which was dedicated to all the Nagas.
Director rural development Metsubu Jamir, who was the guest of honour urged the villagers to learn with an open eye the art of development.
Stating that the area offered the villagers ample opportunities to uplift their living standard if only they develop, he encouraged the villagers to grab the opportunity placed before them.
