Alleging that the special investigating team (SIT) of vigilance department was conducting re-verification of some “aggrieved teacher members” even after furnishing report on the issue to the government, Aggrieved Teachers’ Association of Nagaland (ATAN) condemned the department for the move and directed its members not to co-operate in the re-verification process. ATAN executives in a statement issued Sunday, claimed that re-verification of some of its teacher members was being done by SIT in isolation “without any third party and under pressure tactics”, and appealed to the state government not to acknowledge the re-verification. ATAN maintained that the SIT had no “moral right” to investigate the issue “for which the verdict has been pronounced.” Also, pointing out that since the director school education, the main accused in the SIT report, has been cleared from the allegations and reinstated in his previous post in continuation of service, ATAN executives demanded that all the employees under the department affected by the SIT report be treated with the same yardstick. Moreover, the association opines that minister for school education ought to shoulder responsibilities in the department’s activities. Meanwhile, ATAN has convened a general meeting are has been convened on February 1 at 3 p.m., ISBT Dimapur. All the members of the association have been informed to attend the meeting.
