Success story of NMP+ sensitization prog in Mkg

Network of Mokokchung District People Living with HIV and AIDS (NMP+) have been conducting sensitization programme on HIV and AIDS in villages of Mokokchung district since November 28 last year.
These sensitization programmes were being conducted in collaboration with Bharti Infratel Ltd (NESA) as sponsors.
The sensitization programmes started with the mission to share information on HIV and AIDS and related issues in villages of Mokokchung district.
Longsa village served as the launch pad of sensitization programmes on November 28 last year. This was followed by Chuchuyimpang village on January 16, Chuchuyimlang Village on January 23 and Longpa village on January 30.
Altogether, around 600 people sensitized on HIV and AIDS related issues like HIV and AIDS scenario of Mokokchung, facts about HIV and AIDS and ART, Chronic care, and impact of stigma and discrimination.
According to Toshi Sangpi, president NMP+ and general secretary T. Temsu Jamir the programmes served as a fact-finding exercise regarding awareness on HIV and AIDS of general public.
The question hour sessions of sensitization programmes revealed the unawareness about HIV and AIDS of most of the participants which proved helpful for villagers as their doubts, myths and misconceptions about HIV and AIDS were dispelled by speakers at sensitization programmes.
NMP+ expressed hope that stigma and discrimination would be eventually removed and pandemic contained as their misconceptions were dispelled during question hour sessions.
NMP+ urged all people of Mokokchung district for active participation in the sensitization programmes when it was being conducted in their respective places.
NMP+ expressed hope that the conduct of sensitization programmes on HIV and AIDS in other villages of Mokokchung district would be as responsive and cooperative as the previous ones and thereby awareness of every individual would have created the power to restrict transmission of further infections.
