One of the oldest district hospitals in Nagaland – Tuensang district civil hospital– is in a pitiable condition as basic amenities remained inadequate causing numerous hardships and untold miseries to ailing patients.
Enraged by this condition, the Tuensang citizens have lambasted the district medical authorities for neglecting the facilities in the hospital despite funds provided for hospital maintenance.
It was learnt that some of the staff remained absent for quite sometime while patients struggled for their lives without proper electricity in wards.
Taking strong exception to medical superintendent’s attitude, the general public and various organizations earlier had lodged several complaints against neglecting such facilities in the district hospital but responsible authorities failed to fulfill their demand.
Sources told Nagaland Post Monday evening that some irate public had even threatened to damage the hospital properties such as generator which was found lying defunct.
The incident occurred at a time when injured passengers of Monday’s bus mishap were treated with candle lights.
The situation was however brought under control after some public leaders intervened.
Cautioning that they would no longer tolerate such step-motherly treatment, the citizens demanded responsible authority to provide adequate facilities to the hospital soon.
