NHAK starts 1st ever specialized clinics

Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) on Wednesday started its first ever specialized clinics here at the hospital, Kohima.
The specialized clinic is an open routine clinic which would give more attention to patients on selected diseases and educate patients on their sicknesses by specialized doctors of the hospital.
Medical superintendent of NHAK, Dr. Vizolie Suokhrie said the clinic was aimed at educating patients and patients’ party to learn more about their sicknesses which would eventually do away with connecting illness such as hyper-tension, high blood pressure etc. Dr. Suokhrie informed the hospital had identified about 18 commonly occurred diseases which would be concentrated during the specialized clinic.
A first of its kind in the state, the doctor said the hospital was ready to extend its specialty to people in need with full laboratory back-up.
A registration fee of `10 would be charged while consultation would be free.
Dr. Suokhrie further expressed hope that with good response from patients, the hospital would expand specialized clinic working day to more than a single day.
The identified diseases to be looked after at specialized clinic include diabetic clinic, hypertension, renal diseases, infertility, thyroid and urology, cosmetic, backache and joint problems, art of healing through naturopathy and ayurveda, CA, neck swelling, pain clinic through anesthesia, diabetic, disability, allergy and laboratory functioning for radiology, pathology, microbiology and biochemistry. A physiotherapy unit would be made functional soon.
Meanwhile, it is also informed to the public that a special OPD for the elderly above 70 years would be opened every 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month from 10am onwards starting from February at NHAK.
The special OPD is open with consideration of plight of elderly patients waiting in long queue during rush OPD hours at NHAK. The clinic would open every Wednesday from 2pm.
