Continuing its endeavor to produce entrepreneurs from the bamboo sector, the Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency (NBDA) on Monday distributed handicrafts machineries sets to twenty bamboo craftsmen under the National Bamboo Mission Innovative Scheme 2010 at NBRC.
Addressing the gathering, Team Leader NBM-IT Norman Putsure (IAS) called upon artisans to take up the challenge of developing bamboo handicraft sector, in order to create a niche within the huge international market.
Pointing out to the beneficiaries that they are the foundation of NBDA’s dreams, Putsure urged them to utilize the aid extended to them in a befitting manner.
Expounding on the concept adopted by some Asian countries in the motor vehicle industry, the NBM team leader said they bettered the designs copied from the European countries, improved upon the technologies, sold the vehicles at cheaper rates and thereby captured the market.
Stressing on this concept, he also impressed upon the artisans to imbibe the method to capture the vast bamboo products market.
Informing the mission was doing everything to market the products of local artisans, Putsure disclosed that a handicraft outlet was already in the pipeline and that the products will be made available through online shopping.
However, at the same time, he also reminded the artisans to increase their productions in order to cater to the demands of the international market.
He further stressed on the importance of copywriting the designs and creating more new designs.
The programme was chaired by NBM-IT member Keichung while the welcome address was delivered by Dr. Vikato, NBM member. Keynote address was presented by Lipongse, member NBM and vote of thanks by Amongla C, member NBM.
