The Mayawati government on Wednesday gave the Uttar Pradesh police the clearance to arrest the BSP MLA accused of raping a Dalit girl.Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati on Wednesday summoned officials of the Crime Branch and CID who are investigating the case. The CB-CID preliminary report shows that MLA Purushottam Dwivedi raped the 17-yr-old girl. The MLA had then got the victim put in jail - on charges of theft.
The CB-CID report suggests that theft charges pressed against the rape victim are fabricated.
The Madhya Pradesh police have also been kept in the loop as the victim had disappeared from the state. The missing person’s report was also filed there.
According to the CB-CID report, after her disappearance from MP, the girl was confined at the MLA’s house.
In her statement to the investigating agency, the minor had accused BSP MLA of raping her. The victim claimed that she didn’t steal any object from the MLA’s house.
She also claimed that she only had a cell phone in her possession which she used to call her father when she ran away from Dwivedi’s residence.
Jail inmates told the investigators that the victim was in a critical condition when she was brought in.
Dwivedi, however, has rubbished all claims and insisted that he was being framed.
“CB-CID is investigating the matter. The truth will come out,” he said.
The Banda police have also come under the CB-CID’s scanner with reports suggesting that the local police worked at the behest of Dwivedi in this matter.
