The Seyochung Area Students’ Union (SASU) has extended support to the press release issued by joint community Seyochung Town regarding installation of 500 KV Transformer at Seyochung town.
Seyochung Area Students’ Union reminded the department that Seyochung Area comprising of 12 villages and one township has been reeling under darkness for more than two years
Seyochung Area Students’ Union further added that the public of the area and students community had been facing untold hardship due to lack of electricity.
It was during mid 2008, Seyochung Area Students’ Union stated that under the initiative of United Sangtam Students’ Conference and public of the area, the work for installing 500 KV Transformer started. The union however lamented that electric connection supposed be completed by December 2008 was yet to see the light of day.
In this regard, several appeals were made by various NGO’s, GB’s, public and elders but were ignored by the department, thereby hurting the sentiments of the public of the area, added Seyochung Area Students’ Union.
Seyochung Area Students’ Union further alleged that on December 23, the department instead of taking action attempted to shift the 500 KV transformer installed at Seyochung town led by junior engineer (Electt) Kiphire.
Seyochung Area Students’ Union viewing this as a “direct discrimination”, stated it would no longer remain a silent spectator and cautioned unless the department connects electricity to the entire area, the ceased vehicle would not be released.
The department would be held responsible in case of any untoward incident, stated Seyochung Area Students’ Union.
