Tai Ahoms-Konyaks commemorate past

Tai Ahom of Assam and Konyak Nagas, believed to have had cordial relationship since ancient times, January 5 jointly erected a monolith. The ceremony was attended by various signatories from neighboring villages and towns, a press statement from Tanhai village council said. According to TVC the cordial relationship between the two communities surfaced after a long research and collecting various available evidences. It stated that Tanhai villagers and Tai Ahom delegates met later the programme and then promised that Tai Ahom of Sivisagar will build a Guest House in the name of Watlong Wangya (The Queen of Godhadar Hingo) at Sivisagar Town for the people of Tanhai Village. They expressed hope that inauguration of the monolith renew and strengthen the age old relationship between the Tai Ahom and the Konyak Naga of Tanhai village and the Nagas in general. The legend of Tai Ahom king Godhadar Hingo escaped to Naga hills and got married with Naga princess, Watlong Wangya of Tanhai village (Konyak Naga) has been enlighten with various historical evidences found in Tanhai village.
