DMC cautions foot-path vendors
DIMAPUR: Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) has reminded foot-path vendors not to occupy public pavement as it caused inconvenience to pedestrians. While cautioning the vendors against such “odd practices”, DMC informed that defaulters would be penalized as per the provision of the law/Act.
WASU conference
KOHIMA: The 39th general conference of Western Angami Students Union (WASU) will be held on January 18 at Kohima Science College Auditorium Jotsoma under the theme “Edifying the civic values”. Niketu Iralu, Trustee, Friends of Moral Re-Armament (India) Trustee, Centre for North East Studies and Policy Research, Guwahati and New Delhi and Buno Zetsuvi, associate professor, Education Department Nagaland University would be the chief guest and guest of honour respectively. All units, former presidents, leaders of various organizations within Western Angami and well wishers are requested to be part of the general conference.
NEZCC governing body annual meet
DIMAPUR: Annual meeting of executive board and governing body of the North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC) was held on January 13 at Police Conference Hall, Chumukedima Dimapur. The meeting was chaired by Nikhil Kumar, governor of Nagaland and chairman NEZCC and attended by the commissioner & secretary, art & culture of member states of Nagaland, Tripura, members from Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya,, Nagaland, Sikkim, secretary to the governor of Nagaland, addl. secretary, cultural affairs & heritage department, government of Sikkim and Som Kamei, IPS, director member secretary.
The Committee reviewed the achievements for the year 2009-10 and approved the plan of programs for the financial year 2011-12 and annual reports of the year 2009-10. The committee also reconstituted the governing body, executive board, programme committee and finance committee of NEZCC with new non ex-officio members nominated by the member states.
Zhaimai ‘Glory Day’ observed
DIMAPUR: Zhaimai (Liyai) Ahra Niih Teithi (Glory Day) cum silver jubilee was held on January 6 and 7 at Liyai, Manipur. The occasion is observed to mark the blessings of the forefathers on Zhaimai people to prosper in their endeavours. Addressing the occasion as chief guest, Nagaland state planning board deputy chairman Neiba Kronu spoke of the relationship between forefathers of Kami and Liyai (Paodumi) and Zuketsa area in particular. He also emphasized the need to bring peace, harmony and unity within the Naga community.
The chief guest was accompanied by members of Chakhesang Public organization and Zuketsa Area Public Organization among others.
The programme was marked by various activities and competitions including folk songs and games.
NU under-grad exam detail: Nagaland University deputy registrar (examinations) has informed that details of NU under-graduate examination 2011 scheduled to be held from February 22 could be downloaded from the university website-
KYU meeting: Kohima Yikhum Union (KYU) has called an emergency general meeting on January 15 at 4pm at the residence of its chairman Vanthungo Odyuo. The meeting will discuss important matters of the village. All members have been requested to attend the meeting.
CFAR and LBC monthly prayer fellowship: Centre For Advocacy and Research (CFAR) and Lotha Baptist Church (LBC) Dimapur would be holding monthly prayer fellowship for people infected and affected by HIV and AIDS on January 15 at Lotha Baptist Church Dimapur. The programme would be conducted by Eyilo ministry of the church.
WSBAK youth conference: 64th Western Sumi Baptist Akukuhou Kuqhakulu (WSBAK) youth conference would be held from January 14 to 16 at Qhuhoi Baptist Church.
LSU elects new office bearers: Leshemi Students’ Union (LSU) Phek elected new office bearers on January 3 by nomination committee with Terho Letro as president, Wekhrotso Sara as vice president, Wetsho Lasushe as general secretary along with ten other office bearers, two bankers, two representatives to CSU, and three advisory board members.
DCC Mokokchung meeting: District Congress Committee (DCC) Mokokchung informed that president Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) S.I Jamir would be visiting Mokokchung on January 18. All PCC members, MLAs representing Mokokchung district, DCC and ACCC officials, district mahila congress, district youth congress, NSUI and Kisan cell have been requested to attend the meeting at Ongpangkong salang at 1pm.
VGs contingent at R-Day parade: For the first time, six contingents of Village Guards would participate at the state level Republic Day function at Secretariat Plaza, Kohima on January 26. VGs contingents from Longleng, Kiphire, Meluri, Tuensang and Mon would be dressed in traditional attire, including Kiphire VG Brass Band.Other contingents to take part in the ceremonial parade on Republic Day one contingent each of 16th Assam Rifles, 16th Assam Rifles School, 164 Naga Territorial Army, CRPF, 4th NAP, DEF Kohima, IRB, Home Guards, NCC (boys & girls, Bharat scouts and guides, Sainik school students, mahila battalion, and ex-servicemen.
Treasuries and accounts assts training: Joint director P.Yilobemo Lotha informed that treasuries and accounts, training institute Purana bazaar Dimapur would be organizing short term training programme for assistants of the directorate located at Dimapur on ROP-2010/pension/MACP/fixation on promotion from January 18 to 20. Assistants nominated by their directorate have been asked to attend the training.
GBs informed to submit members list: Sumi Hoho Nagaland (SHN) informed GBs’ association to initiate and submit member lists on or before January 25. This has been decided since the executive meeting for ex-members of the Hoho has been fixed on February 2 at 12pm at Sumi Hoho office, and Sumi hoho annual session on February 3 at 10am at town hall Zunheboto.
ADC Bhandari convenes meeting: In view of the forthcoming Republic Day celebration, ADC Bhandari has convened a co-ordination meeting of all head of departments, NGO’s and public leaders on January 18 at the ADC’s office from 11 am onwards. All responsible have been requested to attend the meeting.
Tsaphimi Students’ Union: Tsaphimi Students’ Union has congratulated Aloto Achumi on being appointed Assistant Central Intelligence Officer (AICO). The union wished him success in his future venture.
CCM, EUUN office bearers: Coordination Committee for Mokokchung, Educated Unemployed Union Nagaland (CCM, EUUN) appointed new team of office bearers for 3 years term. Sunjemnaro was elected chairperson, Limasaba as working president, Imkongkumzuk as secretary among two other members. Meanwhile, president EUUN Achilo Thong has requested the new team to carry out the powers, functions with sincerity and honesty, and further promote the aims and objects of the union in the interest of the Nagas.
