Longon graces 47th KSU session

The 47th Khiamniungan Students’ Union (KSU) general session was held at Peshu village on January 11 and 12.
Minister for soil and water conservation, land resource development, P. Longon graced the occasion as chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Longon called upon the students to be sincere, hardworking and dedicated, stating that a student’s life was only for a short period.
He urged the student community to give more efforts in the journey of learning with the changing times so as to compete with the rest of the world.
He also said there was no limit in acquiring knowledge and the youth needed to exercise and put their knowledge to test, improve skills and level of confidence which held the key to success.
President KTC, W. Chuba and EAC Noklak, Thangpong also exhorted the gathering during the programme.
Special song was presented by Mary Shiu while welcome address was delivered by KSU President, S. Chonta. The moderator for the programme was K. Shongmao.
Later, the chief guest inaugurated the handicraft exhibition at the session hall complex and also inaugurated Peshu Middle School building and unveiled the monolith.
SDO (C) Thonoknyu Lithrongla graced the evening session, Fashion Show as guest of honour and spoke on the theme ‘beauty in ethnicity’. She stated that life as such was all about success and education was one of the basic means to achieve it. She encouraged students to be sincere and hardworking towards the goal with firm determination.
Meanwhile, parliamentary secretary for fishery, printing and stationeries S. Heno graced the second day of the of KSU session January 12.
Speaking at the function, Heno called upon KSU to strive for quality education such that the advancement of the society would march along with time.
General secretary Eastern Region Khiumnuingan Students’ Union and BDO Kiphire P. Mulai also delivered short speech during the function.
