Reconciliation marks MBC centenary celebration

Mangmetong Baptist Church (MBC) on Friday celebrated 100th anniversary with Rev. O. Alem, executive secretary ABAM formally declaring the three-day centenary celebration open.
Rev. O. Alem addressing the congregation said jubilee was a time of revival, for renewing relationship with God and is also a time for unity and reconciliation. He said jubilee was also a time for preparation of the self and between man and God.
The centenary celebration being held on the theme “Christ My Rock of Ages” was attended by thousands of Mangmetong denizens from near and neighbouring villages. Among the congregation were state home minister, Imkong L Imchen, who is also a native of Mangmetong village. The villagers during the centenary celebration also took the opportunity to reconcile differences prevailing in the village.
At the programme, Mangmetong Yimpang Putu Menden sought forgiveness from the people as well as God for the destruction of Revival Church in 1965 at the village.
Besides these, the various enmities and differences between various clans, individuals etc., were reconciled in the name of the centenary celebration. The reconciliation documents were all printed in a souvenir book that was released during the program by Rev. O Alem Executive Secretary ABAM. The program also witnessed paying of tributes by observing a minute of silence for the departed souls, especially pioneers of the Church who took trouble and pain in establishing the Mangmetong Baptist Church 100 years ago.
Rev. Dr. (Mrs.) Narola Imchen, Professor ETC Jorhat was the main speaker of the program.
She exhorted on “Christ My Rock of Ages”. The program also saw presentation of a special song by Mangmetong Fellowship Mokokchung, while Centenary Choir presented a special number. Pastor, Longkhum Baptist Church shared the centenary greetings.
