A woman software engineer, working in a BPO in Delhi, allegedly raped by a friend who had promised to marry her, was assaulted by two “hired” goons for filing a complaint against the accused. The victim, who was allegedly attacked by two persons at Motibagh January 12 last, sustained severe injuries, the North East Support Centre & Helpline reported today in a release. The incident occurred after the 26-year-old woman, native of Assam, filed a complaint with police against the person, identified as one Shivalik Ghosh, whom she met through matrimonial website. She alleged that Shivalik Ghosh seduced her to his home at Gurgaon, intoxicated and raped her. A rape case was registered with Noida Women Police December 3 last year. “Since then my life has been under threatening to withdraw the case against, otherwise face consequences,” the NE support centre quoted the victim as saying. According to NE support centre & helpline report on January 12 when the victim had gone to Motibagh to look for paying guest room, two men, allegedly believed to be hired by Shivalik Ghosh, attacked her between 8:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. “They came in bike, wearing helmets, mentioned Shuvalik’s name, kicked and punched me,” the victim said told NE support centre. She was found lying on the road when the police patrolling party saw her and later admitted to Safdurjung Hospital. Meanwhile, the NESC & Helpline said it has appealed to police officials to look into the matter.
