Explosive materials including 48 Detonators, 20 Sticks of NEO GEL- 90 explosive, safety fuse and battery were recovered from the luggage compartment of NST Bus (NL-03B 0074) which was travelling from Dimapur to Tuensang on January 13.
According to a statement issued by the PRO HQ IGAR (N), the items were, in all likelihood, meant to assemble Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).
The bus driver and the other staff were taken into custody.
The AR did not rule out the involvement of underground groups of Nagaland or Assam in the recovery. Sources reveal that the explosives were most likely being taken across the border to Myanmar to be utilized in making of IEDs, the AR statement said. The recovery was made by the 9 Assam Rifles, under 7 Sector Assam Rifles in Changki.
