Three NNC regions – Lotha, Angami and Ao Regional Councils have questioned the integrity of the process that produced the agreement of “unconditional unity” reached among the GPRN/NSCN, NNC/FGN and NNC on December 14. Presidents of the Lotha Regional Council Chumbemo Khenchung, Angami Regional Council, Chosel Angami and Ao Regional Council, I. Teka Soyah in a joint press statement said there was no prior deliberation of the matter by the Central Executive Council of NNC.
The three signatories said Nagas were engaged in a complicated process of restoring their unity and the health of their historic struggle for their aspiration and therefore called for inspiring one another to inspire one another to restore mutual trust, good will and co-operation among all the Naga people.
“We will do this by our readiness, acknowledge our wrong and failures and to appreciate the positive contributions others too have made. This is the need of the hour,” the joint statement said.
The signatories said there was no doubt about the Nagas having respect and love for the NNC that launched the Naga struggle. They admitted that the NNC became fragmented and “too weakened” for the task for which it was created because of the wrongs and mistakes that the Nagas have done to one another. The three NNC regions said they were “painfully aware” of this reality and urged all to inspire one another to restore mutual trust.
