1 Killed, 15 injured in M’laya’s road mishap

: One person was killed and 15 injured in three separate road accidents during the last 24-hours in Meghalaya, police said today. The first accident occurred at Byrnihat area in state’s Ri-Bhoi district when a truck while trying to overtake another vehicle pushed a motorbike off the road leaving one person injured and another dead on the spot. Tapan Sarkar, who was critically injured in the accident, has been admitted in Assam’s Gauhati Medical College. In another road accident, ten people were severely injured when a passenger vehicle went off the road into a gorge at Mawrynkneng village. The passenger was proceeding to Jowai, the district headquarters of Jaintia Hills district from Shillong, the state capital of Meghalaya. The injured persons have been shifted to a government-run hospital in Jowai. In another vehicle accident which occurred yesterday at Lad Nongkrem, a passenger bus on its way to Tripura and a truck had a head on collision. Four persons -- Aizal Pachar , Auzoi Das , Kabir Ahmed and Shiv Kumar were injured in the accident. The four have been shifted to Shillong Civil hospital.
