Kohima district planning and development board (DPDB) held its first meeting for the year 2011 at Pulie Badze Base camp on January 14.
A short programme was held with deputy commissioner, Kohima, Bei-u Angami NCS as the leader. Speaker, Nagaland Legislative Assembly, Kiyaneilie Peseyie said the invocation and also delivered a short speech where he thanked Kohima DPDB for their visit and briefed on the eco-tourism projects that were being taken up by various departments in the Pulie Badze area.
He urged upon all to value the flora and fauna and be concerned about their preservation. He said Dzuna source being one of the main water sources for the capital, preservation of the forest was a must in the area and explained how Jotsoma village restricted illegal cutting of trees etc., in the area.
He expressed hope that in future, a lot of other related departments would do their part to boost eco-tourism in the area.
Delivering New Year challenge, MLA & Chairman, KVIB, Dr. Nicky Kire called upon all government servants to be thankful for the opportunities they received through which they could offer helpful services to the people. He said one should deliver sacrificial service to the public and always strive to do better.
Dr. Nicky opined that Kohima DPDB was doing well and called upon members to work together with unity and share views to strengthen the Board even more while delivering quality service to the public. He also suggested opinions for beautification of Pulie Badze area.
Chairman, Kohima DPDB, Vikho-o Yhoshü thanked Jotsoma villagers for their hospitality rendered towards Kohima DPDB members and also exhorted the gathering on work ethics which should be maintained by one and all.
SDO (C), Jakhama, Linda Solo, Dobashis and Jotsoma youth organisation presented special numbers. Earlier, DPDB members led by the chairman trekked to Pulie Badze along with Dobashis and village members.
