The commercial hub of Nagaland witnessed another automobile brand entry into the market with Premier launching its compact SUV ‘RiO’ on Monday. The showroom located at Burma Camp police point junction was inaugurated by Lok Sabha MP C M Chang in the presence of company officials and other dignitaries.
Addressing the gathering at the inaugural function, the chief guest in his speech lauded the company for introducing the dealership in Dimapur and expressed hope that more companies will follow suit.
While pointing out the design would certainly attract Nagas, the MP also underscored the importance of after sales service.
Vice president of the company Rakesh Mehta who also spoke at the function said with launching of RiO, people can look forward for an SUV with a drivability of a car.
He also added that the compact design of the car makes it a crossover vehicle between an SUV and a car.
Powered by Premier’s 1489 cc turbo diesel engine based on Peugeot technology, RiO delivers close to 65 BHP and a fuel efficiency of nearly 16 kms per litre.
Beefing up its after sales support, the company also provides a 3 year warranty on the vehicle.
The compact SUV will be retailed in three versions with the base model priced at around `5.60 lacs and deluxe model at `6.05 lacs (ex-showroom price in Pune). The most unique feature of the vehicle is the high ground clearance making it suitable for the hilly terrains.
It may be added that the company’s dealership has been taken up by Feroz Khan.
