WTC direct business establishment
DIMAPUR: In view of forthcoming Republic Day celebration, all shop keepers and other business establishments of Wokha town have been directed to whitewash/paint the front portiion of their respective shops and to keep dustbins inscribed “USE ME” on or before January 21.
Wokha Town Council (WTC) administrator, Athel O Lotha notified those failing to comply with the order would be viewed seriously and a fine of `2.500 would be imposed against the defaulters as required U/S.470/471 of Municipal Act of 2001.
JSU surprise checking at vet farm
DIMAPUR: Jalukie Students’ Union (JSU) on December 22 conducted surprise checking at veterinary farm Jalukie town.
During the surprise checking, the union found that one of the staff VFA attached to cattle breeding farm Jalukie absent from duty since May 6, 2010 till date without any information to the officer in-charge.
Expressing dismay over the absence of the government employee since last year, the union general secretary Inchang Hiaka appealed the department in-charge to give chance to the students willing to serve in the department.
The union also requested the officer in-charge to take steps against the erring government employee.
DIMAPUR: Moilan Students’ Union (MSU) Wokha held its 52nd annual session-cum-election on December 30, 2010 at GMS compound Moilan village.
The session was held under the theme ‘excellence through unity, knowledge, and dedication’ that was graced by president north east harm reduction network W.C. Humtsoe as chief guest.
Meanwhile, a new team of office bearers was elected for the tenure 2011-12 headed by Wochothung Humtsoe as president, John Ovung as vice president, Tsenthungo Ovung as general secretary among 12 other office bearers, 3 women coordinator, 3 representatives to KSU, and 3 advisory board members.
PLTWFI plea for drivers’ safety
DIMAPUR: Petroleum and land transport workers federation of India (PLTWFI) Assam state unit has urged the Dimapur administration to allot legal order to set up information centre of the PLTWFI Nagaland state unit at Dimapur. PLTWFI in a press release informed that illegal taxation of various organisations were rampantly collected under Dimapur town and Assam drivers were deprived from their safety at Nagaland. PLTWFI Assam unit has requested the Dimapur administration to look into the matter seriously for the welfare of the drivers.
CBCC to hold 60th session
DIMAPUR: The 60th session of Chakhesang Baptist Church Council (CBCC) on the theme “Being rooted in the word of God” would be held from January 21-23 at Lekromi Baptist Church. Executive committee meeting would be held in this connection on January 20,1pm. All executive committee members have been requested to reach the venue by 12noon. Each local Church having above 500 baptized members have been informed to send six delegates and 4 delegates fro those having less than 500 baptized members. Members have been asked to bring Church flag, bedding and pay mess fee of `250 per head.
NSAMB allots dealership on piggery feeds
DIMAPUR: Nagaland State Agricultural Marketing Board (NSAMB) has informed agencies/entrepreneurs that dealership on piggery feeds for the respective districts/areas have been allotted. Mokokchung district- I N Temjen, Tuensang district- James Chang, Phek district (Sadar)- Vezhopra Thingo and Pfutsero area- APMC Pfutsero. All interested pig farmers may contact their respective district/area dealers for the feeds. Meanwhile NSAMB informed that interested entrepreneurs may apply for the remaining districts dealership.
Change of cabinet meeting venue
DIMAPUR: The venue for cabinet meeting on January 18, 11am has been shifted to the office chamber of chief minister in the secretariat. All cabinet ministers have been requested to take note of the change of venue and attend the meeting.
LBKAA 17th annual meeting
DIMAPUR: Longki Bosti Karbi-Anglong Assam (LBKAA) has convened its17th annual general meeting on January 22, 9am at Longki ground. All land owners residing outside Longki village have been requested to attend the meeting.
Sumi students’ union general conference
KOHIMA: Kohima Sumi Students’ Union has informed that All Sumi Students’ Union general conference would be held from January 27-30 at Alaphu village. Kinimi, former member of the union.
TGU lauds ‘Divine Connection’
KOHIMA: Tesophenyu Group Union (TGU) Kohima has felicitated ‘Divine Connection’ on winning ‘MTV Kurkure Desi Beat Rock contest’ and for bringing laurels to the state and north east region. The union thanked chief minister for acknowledging the band by felicitating them on their return. TGU further wished them success, especially to its community member Obed Kath.

KOHIMA: NPF Kohima division has welcomed Dr. Chumben Murry, minister for Agriculture and Pangnyu Phom, parliamentary secretary for RD, with their supporters into the NPF party. National workers prayer and fasting
KOHIMA: A prayer and fasting programme of national workers was held from January 5-7 at Nagaland Prayer centre, Tseminyu. Three leader delegates from each faction attended the programme. Confession of sins, commitment to mission and reconciliation were some of the highlights of the prayer meet.
