GPRN/NSCN Lotha region informs

: With the process of electing respective village council chairmen in Lotha villages to begin soon, the GPRN/NSCN Lotha region chairman, John Lotha has informed that if any intending village chairmen candidates under its region were found indulging in bribery, buying votes of Village council members (VCMs) and other illegal means, they would be identified and penalized according to the ‘yehzabo of the Nation.’ The GPRN/NSCN Lotha Region said it has information that some of the intending candidates were already using unfair means to secure village council chairmanship. It said that a village chairman installed through improper process would give birth to corruption considering a number of government sponsored schemes and funds intended for the poorest section. The GPRN/NSCN Lotha Region said already there were complaints from many villages under Lotha region of contractors conniving with village council chairmen and not completing the projects. Many link roads under various schemes remain unfinished while the funds are drawn into the pockets of the few and the villagers continued to suffer, it said. To this, the GPRN/NSCN Lotha Region said that in the interest of the common people, in co-ordination with the GBs under Lotha Region, it shall ensure that Lotha populace does not live in misery under corrupt village council chairmen.
