As part of their continuing efforts to maintain standards of public hygiene in the locality and upkeep the cleanliness of surrounding roads, drains and junkyards, NPF workers of Ward-18 Dimapur-2 under the supervision of former DMC member Ningkhuon Gonmei and area party general secretary Chari Panmei organised a mass social work at Zeliangrong village on Tuesday.
The women group, led by Aphien Rongmei was also seen with brooms and spades completely engaged in the work with male counterparts.
Party youth leaders including Ajenpu and Thomas instructed shopkeepers in the village to take responsibility in maintaining cleanliness and that no waste should be accumulated near their shops.
Meanwhile, Rongmei inhabitants of the village have commenced their festival of harvest ‘Chakan Gaan-Ngai’ from Tuesday along with the rest of the tribe in Nagaland, Assam and Manipur.
On the occasion, Ningkhuon Gonmei on behalf of the party greeted the Rongmei tribe a ‘Happy Chakan Gaan-Ngai.’
He hoped the festival which symbolizes brightness for prosperity and success for the year ahead may bring hope, peace and prosperity in the days to come.
