Five hours after the rice laden truck met with an accident, killing two persons on the spot, one of the critically injured victim succumbed to his injuries on the wee hours of Saturday morning. Police sources disclosed that an FIR has already been lodged at West police station against the driver for drunken driving, based on the preliminary inquiries made.
Meanwhile, with regard to the report of rice bags being transported to other states, DC Dimapur Maongwati talking to Nagaland Post over the phone pointed out that movement of essential commodities to other places was restricted and was very much in force. He also further added that strict action will be taken against any company found ferrying essential commodities without proper permit. It may be noted that the rice-laden truck reportedly belongs to one Dimapur based company, Maruti Trading.
