Indian Idol season 5 winner Sreeram and finalist Bhoomi Trivedi along with Dewey’s Band arrived Dimapur Sunday. The group will be performing at Indian Idol Live mega concert at DDSC Stadium on Monday.
The event is being organized by Dimapur Sumi Students’ Union (DSSU) as part of Valentine’s Day celebration, with a view to sensitize and educate youngsters on the importance of observing the “youthful ocassion” in a decent manner. Organizers stated that the concept of the mega concert came up with the aim to generate maximum possible crowd on Valentine’s Day, and ward off the misinterpretation of the occasion which sometimes led youngsters to involve in “immoralities.”
Addressing media persons at a press conference held at Yo!China Dimapur Sunday evening, the reigning Indian Idol Sreeram said he has heard much about the appreciative inclination of the people from northeast India towards music, particularly Nagas, and expressed enthusiasm to perform for Naga audience, saying he was “eagerly waiting for tomorrow.” Stating that live concerts in other cities of the country drew maximum crowd of 4000-5000, Sreeram however, said he expected more turnout in Dimapur, as he was told that Nagas were a music loving community, and that people thronged at live shows to appreciate music, irrespective of which language artists sang, he added.
Idol 5 finalist Bhoomi said she gladly accepted the proposal from DSSU to perform at Dimapur, admitting that she had once been to Guwahati and had always wanted to return to Assam, and eventually, Nagaland to perform.
Another treat is in store for music enthusiasts of Nagaland, as Monday’s Indian Idol Live mega concert would be launching a new Indian celebrity studded band, Dewey’s Band, consisting of Shashi Suman, composer; SaReGaMaPa finalist Mugdha Hasabnis and Indian Idol finalists Charu Semwal, and Dimapur’s own Remo Ghosh. The band also include Naitik Nagda (percussions) winner of MTV Rock On Season 1, Alap Gosher (drums), Neeraj Mamaniya (keyboards), Mehul Gangar (octapad), Akashdeep Gogoi (bass) finalist MTV Rock On, Zenti Dutta (lead guitars), and Toseif Shaikh (sound engineer).
Dewey’s band is a brainchild of Rosemary Dewey, a New York Film School graduate who heads Twin Soul Entertainment & Productions based in Miami, USA.
Rosemary Dewey told the media that the band would be making its debut on Monday’s show at Dimapur. Band members informed that the band attempts to fuse all genres of music including folk, rock, classical, filmi etc, and asserted they were set to take India and international music market “by storm.”
Meanwhile, organizers of the mega concert have informed that there would also be a voluntary blood donation camp Monday, at Civil Hospital Dimapur from 9 am to 12 pm, as part of the occasion.
Miami (USA) based Twin Soul Entertainment & Productions, Mumbai owner Rosemary Dewy will be conducting an audition to identify local singing talents at Hotel Saramati, Dimapur on February 14 after 9 am.
