Nagaland College Principal’s Forum (NCPF) has expressed apprehension over the implementation of the on-line delivery of question papers at the examination centre only one hour before the commencement of the examination after which it would be printed and ready for distribution. The initiative to implement the new system was arrived at the “Seminar on Examination Reforms and Management” held on July 2, 2010. NCPF president, Dr. P. S. Lorin and secretary, Dr. Vituo Belho in a letter to the vice chancellor Nagaland University said the erratic power and network problems might pose a hindrance to the effectiveness of the initiative. The Forum said that the NU, instead of imposing EDC during the last part of January 2011, could have done a mock exercise on EDC well ahead of time at least during October/November 2010 in order to create faith among colleges. Besides, the NCPF said at the time of writing to the VC, admit cards have still not been issued and the equipment to carry out the same had not been installed or tested. On the minutes of the meeting that evaluation would be completed within one week of the last examination, the Forum said since it was a new venture, it anticipated that enough time remained to bring about its success and the needful was done a the earliest.
The NCPF also said that if semester system was to be introduced in 2011, it requested the VC to provide all necessary materials, course structure and syllabi by March 2011 as the first year degree classes would commence in May 2011. The Principals said colleges were ready to provide necessary infrastructure and facilities to implement the same. It, however, said if adequate preparations have not been made then it might be more prudent to postpone the introduction of semester system to 2012. The NCPF pointed out that the original deadline decided at the Seminar was 2012 and also by the four committee of principals to advise and facilitate the VC.
Nevertheless, the NCPF said if the university was ready to introduce the semester system in 2011 then the colleges would do its part without fail and in support of the university’s decision but requested for sending the necessary guidelines as soon as possible. The NCPF reiterated its support for initiatives from the university.
